The Batesville Memorial Public Library was built in 1974 on land that had been the location of the John Hillenbrand family home.  An addition to the library was built in 1988, doubling the library’s size.  The library houses a non-circulating collection of about 1,000 books which were part of the Hillenbrand family library. Some of those books are on display at the library, along with a stained glass window from the home and busts of John and Clara Hillenbrand.
