2024 Batesville READS

The BMPL Batesville Reads Challenge has started! This reading challenge is for Adults 18 +  and can be completed with or without a BMPL library card.  You can start this challenge at anytime throughout the year.  Have questions? HOW IT WORKS…

There are two ways to track your progress on the books you have read and category completed.

1. There are paper print outs at the circulation desk you can pick up.  Once you have the list, simply check off the category and write the book title.
2. Track your progress through the Beanstack App on your device or phone.  Below are instructions and a link to download the app and how to create a login once the app is downloaded.

THE CHALLENGE…

Read one book in each of the selected 50 categories by December 31st, 2024.  This challenge is set at your own pace.  After completing ALL 50 categories turn your paper tracking sheet OR show your Beanstack completion list at the circulation desk.  A BMPL staff member will give you your completion prize along with YOUR CHACE TO WIN a $100 Visa Gift Card.

NEED HELP WITH FINDING BOOKS FOR A CERTAIN CATEGORY…  Friendly staff members will be available to help with suggestions or to chat about the challenge.  We encourage participants to get creative with the prompts.  You never have to take them exactly at face value. Think outside the box and have fun with it!

You can use any format that you choose.  Hardcover, paperback, audiobook, e- reader, braille, a live reading from the author — they all count!  Each prompt is possible to complete using any form of reading.

MIX IT UP: As tempting as it may be to slot your regular reading into every category, use this as an opportunity to branch out a little.  Pick a book or author that you’ve never read before. Or, try an unfamiliar genre! Who knows, you may even find a new favorite!

GET CREATIVE: This isn’t so much a rule as a helpful hint. Due to our natural reading preferences some of the categories will be more difficult to complete than others — but just have fun with it! Get creative and interpret the category in a new way. Try to find books that not only fit that category but that you’ll also enjoy reading. If YOU think a book fits a certain prompt, then it does!

• Register yourself in Beanstack
• Record the book prompts you’ve completed in Beanstack. 
• Any format counts – whether you are reading a physical book, ebook, audiobook, braille, or a live reading from an author

You can checkout ebooks and audiobooks using your Library Card.
