SUMMER Stories at the PARK
Liberty ParkLAST DAY FOR SUMMER STORIES AT LIBERTY PARK IS JULY 22ND! During the summer (June & July) there will be NO Storytime at the Library. Join Miss Sarah at Liberty Park on the grass by the playground to spend 30 minutes reading, singing, and dancing together! NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED. This program is geared toward children ages 3 - 6. Dates for the 11:00AM - 11:30AM ONLY Summer Stories at the Park is – June 3rd, 10th, 17th, & 24th and July 1st, 8th, 15th & 22nd. Normal Storytime will resume on Tuesday, August 13th at 10am, 2pm OR 6pm.

Diamond Art Adventure

With Diamond Painting, you apply tiny resin "diamonds" to a coded adhesive canvas to create shimmering Diamond Art. This is back due to popular demand. Afternoon – Felting Class
BMPL Annex 10 West Boehringer Street, Batesville, IN, United StatesLet’s capture the vibrant beauty of sunflowers this month in needle felting. Felting is one of the oldest forms of textile arts. Needle felting is begun by rolling a small amount of wool and stabbing it with the needle. It is a quick hobby to learn, and many find it stress-relieving. Story Seekers Book Club – Youth
Meeting Room A 131 N. Walnut St., Batesville, IN, United StatesAugust 6th we will be discussing The Restorationists by Carolyn Leiloglou, the book we read in July. Participants will also receive the next book we will be reading for August which is Almost Home by Joan Bauer. Almost Home summary from Amazon.com: When twelve-year-old Sugar's grandfather dies and her gambling father takes off yet again, Sugar and her mother lose their home in Missouri. They head to Chicago for a fresh start, only to discover that fresh starts aren't so easy to come by for the homeless. Nevertheless, Sugar's mother has taught her to be grateful no matter what, so Sugar does her best. With the help of a rescue dog, Shush; a foster family; a supportive teacher; a love of poetry; and her own grace and good humor, Sugar comes to understand that while she can't control the hand life deals her, she can control how she responds. Participants will read the book for that month and discuss it the following month. There will be a craft or activity to go along with the book. This book club is for grades 3rd - 8th. Pareidolia (par·ei·do·lia ˌper-ˌī-ˈdō-lē-ə -ˈdōl-yə : the tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern. The scientific explanation for some people is pareidolia, or the human ability to see shapes or make pictures out of randomness.) Human Rock Faces in Indiana State Parks is something that nobody has done or seen before. It's truly mesmerizing pieces that create wonder by showing hidden pareidolia images. Every photo has geographical coordinates, so our viewers are welcome after exhibition, to visit beautiful Indiana State Parks and discover their own Rock Faces along rivers and creeks.

Coin collector Carl Moore will explore their origins, from early colonial currencies to coins that defined our nation. Ripley County Reads Author Fair

Walnut St., Batesville, IN, United StatesThe Author Fair is an opportunity for the public to meet with 25+ regional authors, ask questions about their books and the writing process, and purchase their books. This year author Shannon Anderson will be doing a kids (suggested ages 3-6 year olds) Storytime (no registration) at 10:15AM and an Author Talk during the fair at 11AM. Following the fair at 1:30PM Shannon will present a Writer's Critique Workshop. What is a Writer's Critique Workshop? Are you an aspiring author who wants to improve your writing? Are you a published author struggling with a section of your current project? Come learn what makes a successful critique group from award-winning author Shannon Anderson. This session aims to provide the structure of an effective critique group. Shannon will share tips, tricks, and guide us in the hopes of starting a local group In a writer's critique group, members typically gather to share their works-in-progress with peers for constructive feedback. Each writer takes turns presenting their piece, while others listen, noting strengths and areas for improvement. Discussions focus on elements like plot, character development, writing style, and overall impact. The atmosphere is collaborative and supportive, helping writers refine their craft through constructive criticism.
