Aging Care Series: Understanding and Responding to Dementia Related Behaviors

Walnut St., Batesville, IN, United StatesAging Care Series: Understanding and Responding to Dementia Related Behaviors Behavior is a powerful form of communication and is one of the primary ways people living with dementia communicate their needs and feelings as the ability to use language is lost. However, some behaviors can present real challenges for caregivers to manage. Join us to learn to decode behavioral messages, identify common triggers, and learn strategies to help manage some of the most common behavioral challenges of Alzheimer’s disease. Story Seekers Book Club – Youth
Meeting Room A 131 N. Walnut St., Batesville, IN, United StatesOCTOBER 1st we will be discussing On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness by Andrew Peterson, the book we read in September. Participants will also receive the next book we will be reading for October which is A WRINKLE IN TIME by Madeleine L'Engle. A WRINKLE IN TIME summary from Amazon.com: It was a dark and stormy night; Meg Murry, her small brother Charles Wallace, and her mother had come down to the kitchen for a midnight snack when they were upset by the arrival of a most disturbing stranger. "Wild nights are my glory," the unearthly stranger told them. "I just got caught in a downdraft and blown off course. Let me sit down for a moment, and then I'll be on my way. Speaking of ways, by the way, there is such a thing as a tesseract." A tesseract (in case the reader doesn't know) is a wrinkle in time. Participants will read the book for that month and discuss it the following month. There will be a craft or activity to go along with the book. This book club is for grades 3rd - 8th. Afternoon – Felting Class
BMPL Annex 10 West Boehringer Street, Batesville, IN, United StatesFelting is one of the oldest forms of textile arts. Needle felting is begun by rolling a small amount of wool and stabbing it with the needle. It is a quick hobby to learn, and many find it stress-relieving. For October & November we will be making a cornucopia and filling it with a variety of thanksgiving bounty. This project will continue into November and is recommended to attend both. If you are only able to attend one class, that is fine, but you will not have as detailed of a project. This adult group meets on the first Thursday afternoon of each month to make a project. Drive up to the truck and unload.  5 Box Limit. Truck will leave before 1 PM if it is full. Items that will be accepted: Office Paper, Computer Paper, Copy Paper, Post-It Notes, Note Pads (no metal bindings), Magazines, Newspapers, Envelopes w/windows, Manilla Folders, Hanging File Folders, Staples, Binder Clips, Paper Clips, Rubber Bands.
