Participate in Batesville's 3rd annual Tiny Art Show.  A Tiny Art Show is a pop-up exhibit featuring tiny art created on 4x4 inch canvas. You may create your tiny art in any medium of your choice. Pick up your FREE canvas from BMPL on or after February 1st, while supplies last. Return to the library NO LATER than February 28 (with your information card) to be displayed and voted on in March. The people's choice in each category (12 & under, 13 & above) will win Chamber Bucks! Artists can pick up work and an easel for home display on April 1st.   VOTING will begin on March 1st. Anyone can STOP by the circulation desk to pick up a ballot and drop in the bucket provided. 1 VOTE per visit. Voting is The People's Choice in each category (12 & under, 13 & above) will win Chamber Bucks! February 4th we will be discussing Ink Heart by Cornelia Funke, the book we read in January. Participants will also receive the next book we will be reading for February which is The Trumpet of the Swan by E.B. White. The Trumpet of the Swan summary from Amazon.com: The delightful classic by E. B. White, author of Charlotte's Web and Stuart Little, about overcoming obstacles and the joy of music.  Like the rest of his family, Louis is a trumpeter swan. But unlike his four brothers and sisters, Louis can't trumpet joyfully. In fact, he can't even make a sound. And since he can't trumpet his love, the beautiful swan Serena pays absolutely no attention to him. Louis tries everything he can think of to win Serena's affection—he even goes to school to learn to read and write. But nothing seems to work. Then his father steals him a real brass trumpet. Is a musical instrument the key to winning Louis his love? Participants will read the book for that month and discuss it the following month. Get Outdoors Around the World Challenge! THIS MONTH OUR COUNTRY IS FRANCE! Participants will meet at Freedom Park for some outdoor winter games. WE WILL USE your email for updates & possible changes due to weather. Reap the benefits of outdoor play with Batesville Library's Get Outdoors Around the WORLD challenge. This program is designed to give your family ideas to get outdoors more. There will be MONTHLY PROGRAMS/CHALLENGES with the focus on what other Countries do "outdoors" to have fun. After REGISTERING your family below you will receive a cinch sack, journal, tracker sheet and PASSPORT at the program if you have not received your just ask. This is our 2nd program. You can join anytime throughout the year. Our country we will focus on is France.  Passports will be stamped anytime at the library. At each program participants will get a "Country" with a list of outdoor tasks to complete. Once ALL the tasks are complete for that Country, bring your sheet and Passport into the library to get stamped and pick up your small prize. **By registering, you will receive a few emails listing other outdoor events around the area from local parks and other community groups. Challenge runs from JANUARY 1 to December 1, 2025. We will have a special gathering at the END of the challenge for all who try to complete the challenge.
