Join us every Tuesday for a fun filled 45 minute session that incorporates books, songs, & activities to build early literacy skills. Choose the session that fits best with your schedule. Join us to make Christmas Trees using ice cream cones, icing, and candy! This program is for children in 1st - 6th grade. Registration is required. Please sign your child(ren) up below. January 7th we will be discussing A Boy Called Christmas by Matt Haig, the book we read in December. Participants will also receive the next book we will be reading for January which is Ink Heart by Cornelia Funke. Ink Heart summary from Amazon.com: Adventure and Magic One cruel night, Meggie's father reads aloud from a book called INKHEART-- and an evil ruler escapes the boundaries of fiction and lands in their living room. Participants will read the book for that month and discuss it the following month. There will be a craft or activity to go along with the book. This FREE book club is for grades 3rd - 8th. Get Outdoors Around the World Challenge! Kick Off Event Reap the benefits of outdoor play with Batesville Library's Get Outdoors Around the WORLD challenge. This program is designed to give your family ideas to get outdoors more. There will be MONTHLY PROGRAMS/CHALLENGES with the focus on what other Countries do "outdoors" to have fun. After REGISTERING your family below you will receive a cinch sack, journal, tracker sheet and PASSPORT at the first program. Our first program in will January 9, 2025. We will make a pinecone bird feeder, have a snack and learn about this year's challenge. Passports will be stamped anytime at the library. At each program participants will get a "Country" with a list of outdoor tasks to complete. Once ALL the tasks are complete for that Country, bring your sheet and Passport into the library to get stamped and pick up your small prize. **By registering, you will receive a few emails listing other outdoor events around the area from local parks and other community groups. Challenge runs from JANUARY 1 to December 1, 2025. We will have a special gathering at the END of the challenge for all who try to complete the challenge. REGISTER below by FAMILY name and # number of family members participating. Each month you will need to register for the next program.

WINTER READING FUN HAS STARTED! The Winter Reading Program will run for 5 weeks.  Jan13-Feb 15. It will be for ages 15+ There will be 4 Reading Levels.  Based on books read. 250 pages = 1Book.  Each level will have an entry for a one of two grand prizes.  Level 1 is a Beanstack Virtual Ticket.  Level 2 will be a free book that you can pick up at the library and a Beanstack Virtual Ticket. Level 3 is a Beanstack Virtual Ticket. Level 4 will be a small prize that you can pick up at the library and a Beanstack Virtual Ticket.  Grand prizes will be State Park Pass or Winter Fun Basket.
