Clark began making a name for himself as a session drummer in the Indianapolis area in the early 1980’s. As well as 26 years with John Mellencamp. BMPL's Parking Lot is DORA approved. Ripley County Reads Author Fair
Batesville Memorial Public Library 131 N. Walnut St., Batesville, IN, United StatesThe Author Fair is an opportunity for the public to meet with 25+ regional authors, ask questions about their books and the writing process, and purchase their books. This year author Shannon Anderson will be doing a kids (suggested ages 3-6 year olds) Storytime (no registration) at 10:15AM and an Author Talk during the fair at 11AM. Following the fair at 1:30PM Shannon will present a Writer's Critique Workshop. What is a Writer's Critique Workshop? Are you an aspiring author who wants to improve your writing? Are you a published author struggling with a section of your current project? Come learn what makes a successful critique group from award-winning author Shannon Anderson. This session aims to provide the structure of an effective critique group. Shannon will share tips, tricks, and guide us in the hopes of starting a local group In a writer's critique group, members typically gather to share their works-in-progress with peers for constructive feedback. Each writer takes turns presenting their piece, while others listen, noting strengths and areas for improvement. Discussions focus on elements like plot, character development, writing style, and overall impact. The atmosphere is collaborative and supportive, helping writers refine their craft through constructive criticism. A Novel Idea Book Club – ADULT

Retired English teacher Steve Holland is our book guide. A Novel Idea Book Club meets in the library on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 1:30 pm. Newcomers are always welcome to this lively book group! The August book is Whistling Past the Graveyard by Indiana author Susan Crandall. From an award-winning author comes a wise and tender coming-of-age story about a nine-year-old girl who runs away from her Mississippi home in 1963, befriends a lonely woman suffering loss and abuse, and embarks on a life-changing road trip.
