    FREE Paper Shredding Event.  5 Box Limit.  Truck will leave before 1 PM if it is full. Items that will be accepted: Office Paper; Computer Paper; Copy Paper; Post-It Notes;  Note Pads (no metal bindings); Magazines; Newspapers; Envelopes w/windows; Manilla Folders, Hanging File Folders; Staples; Binder Clips; Paper Clips; Rubber Bands. The truck will be in the BMPL parking lot from 10 AM until 1 PM unless it is full. This is open to ALL community members.

    Felting is one of the oldest forms of textile arts. Needle felting is begun by rolling a small amount of wool and stabbing it with the needle. It is a quick hobby to learn, and many find it stress-relieving. This month, we will be creating a Santa, and if time permits, a Mrs Claus! If you joined us for our April class, we will be using the same techniques we used to create the bunny. All material will be supplied. We will meet inside the library.   • Woodworking 101- Adult

    Batesville Middle School Commons 201 N. Mulberry St., Batesville, IN, United States

    This workshop will focus on learning the fundamentals of how to use basic woodshop power machines (ie. drill press, bandsaw and disc sander) to make a small woodworking project (golf tee jump game) along with basic finishing techniques such as sanding, staining and/or polyurethaning.  A followup workshop in upcoming months to build a larger project which requires attendance at this program (or proof of workshop knowledge). Enter directly into the Industrial technology room via door H at the back of BATESVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL.  This class will be led by Jeremy Spencer,  the Industrial Technology Education Teacher at Batesville Middle School. He is in his 25th year of teaching Industrial Technology with a focus in woodworking. A suggested donation helps keep our library programs thriving, so we can continue bringing learning, creativity, and community together for everyone. The DECEMBER book is In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash by Indiana author Jean Shepard. This book inspired the ever-popular movie A Christmas Story, and is a collection of short stories. The stories are framed in the context of adult Ralph Parker returning to his hometown of Hohman, Indiana and spending an afternoon with his old friend Flick at the bar he owns, reminiscing about events from their youth. Since only a few of the stories from In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash were featured in the movie, the book is also a great chance for fans of the movie to get some extra stories about Ralphie and his family.
