3D Printers

The Innovation Studio has two Bambulab H2C 3D printers available for use.

What You’ll Need

Use of the 3D printers requires certification; check out our calendar of certification classes here!

Any 3D design or CAD software that will allow you to export to STL format is a great start for desigining your own 3D print files, but newcomers to 3D printing may prefer to download pre-made files from sources like Thingiverse or MakerWorld.

If you’d like to design your own files, TinkerCAD is a free, beginner-friendly web-app for 3D design. TinkerCAD can be used on your computer at home or on any of the Innovation Studio computers.

How to Get Started

Before reserving a 3D printer, you will need to complete one or our 3D printing certification classes.

Cost

While the 3D printers are free to use, the Library does charge for the use of filament at $0.10 per gram. Objects are weighed a the end of the print.

The cost of filament includes:

  • Any rafts, brims, or supports needed for the print
  • Any failed prints due to design error (failed prints due to machine malfunction will not be charged)
  • Prints that do not complete before your reservation expires

Please Note

  • Please make sure you reserve enough time to complete your project. If your project runs over your time limit, staff may allow it to continue printing at their discretion until the next reservation arrives or the Library is closing. Prints will not be continued while the Library is closed.
  • Staff can help with the equipment and provide basic software support, but are unable to design files or provide creative input.
  • There is a 15 minute grace period before reservations are automatically cancelled.
