Batesville High School Student Bands
Our annual concert at Batesville Middle School featuring Batesville High School student bands, the Sport Coat Jazz Ensemble (directed by Eric Stauffer) and Batesville Steel (directed by Leon Enneking). Big band jazz and steel drums make for an exciting and entertaining musical evening!
Matthew Ball, Detroit's "Boogie Woogie Kid"
A world class talent and entertainer, Matthew Ball is already described as “Michigan’s leading boogie-woogie pianist!” by The Farmington Patch, "A boogie-woogie master!" by The Romeo Observer, and “A rising giant in the field!” by Metroland. Welcome the Boogie Woogie Kid to the library's After Hours Concert Series in celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month and National Library Week!

M.L. Liebler w/ The Rev. Robert B. Jones, Markita Moore, & Charlie Palazzolo
M.L. Liebler, a 2017 Michigan Notable Books Author for his work, Heaven Was Detroit: From Jazz to Hip Hop and Beyond, and his band will celebrate the dynamic Detroit music scene, starting at 7:00 PM. Opening the evening at 6:30 PM, the Batesville Memorial Public Library Ukulele Club will perform some favorite Motown tunes. Fun for all ages!
Eric Taylor is a sage musician, a lyrical genius and a master of the guitar. If you're familiar with the intricate Texas singer/ songwriter jigsaw puzzle, you probably already know a lot about Taylor. If you're not familiar with Taylor by name, you've probably heard his songs performed by people such as Nanci Griffith and Lyle Lovett. Join us at the library for this special concert by Emmy-nominated Eric Taylor.
Indianapolis' Scots/American Folk Rock Band - Highland Reign - returns to Liberty Park in Batesville for the annual Apple Festival. Enjoy the fun as this talented trio takes the tunes of the old country and breathes a rockin' new life into them! Don't miss this exciting group as they entertain during Apple Fest!

Delta Blues and Roots musician, Scott Ainslie, is known for his ability to sing, play, and speak the Blues into life. With a deep affinity for cross-cultural exchange, Ainslie has studied with elder musicans on both sides of the color line, bringing the history, roots and music of America alive with affection, authority, and power.

Kaia is a vocal and percussion ensemble in Bloomington, Indiana performing world music in over 25 languages and a wide variety of vocal styles. From haunting Finnish folksongs to African-American gospel to the music of raucous peasants, they love to explore the many textures of the musical world and the full range of human experience. PLUS! Don't miss this exciting musical opportunity ... Kaia will present a free World Music Workshop for Children and Families at the library on November 4, from 4:00 till 5:00 PM. Learn about their many musical styles and hand percussion instruments. Free! Bring the whole family!

Dennis Stroughmatt et l'Esprit Creole : Creole Christmas
Fingers and bow flying, Dennis Stroughmatt and l'Esprit Creole will lead us on a musical odyssey into the American heartland and its surprising pocket of Creole French music. Celebrate the Creole Christmas season with Dennis, a master of this once-endangered music and dialect, and an authority on all things French in North America. L'Esprit Creole will start at 7:00 pm.
Opening for l'Esprit Creole at 6:30 pm: The Batesville Memorial Public Library Ukulele Club, playing some Christmas-time favorites.

This will be his last concert as director and it's going to be a memorable one!

All-Star After Hours Concert and Magic!
We're sending Library Director Mike Kruse off to retirement with a full evening of music and magic!
Starting at 5:30 pm, The Troubadours of Divine Bliss will perform their soft and sassy music on guitar and accordion, accompanied by our favorite percussionist, Michael Beck.
Following the Troubadours, the BMPL Ukulele Club will perform some of their favorites. Then Mike Kruse will be joined by some special guests to play some songs in the Roots / Americana style (Think: John Prine, Bob Dylan, and The Band). In between these musical acts, Magic Don Miller will present his own brand of comedy and magic that will keep you amazed and amused! Topping off the evening, we'll hear Louisville's premiere jazz group, The Ron Jones Quartet! Refreshments throughout the evening. Come early! Stay late!
