About us

Today's public library is a dynamic community center that emphasizes lifelong education and literacy in many forms. Here you'll find shelves of books, magazines and newspapers, certainly, but also films on DVD, books and information in digital format, public computers and WiFi, business and entrepreneurship information, special collections, art, and people...

At the BMPL, you'll find people meeting and exchanging ideas, people reading and finding materials for low-vision readers, people studying and learning, people playing and trying new technologies, people learning how to read and enjoying a live concert, people searching for their ancestors on microfilm and searching the stars with a telescope.

Welcome to the Batesville Memorial Public Library..."where information inspires imagination!"

The photo on the right shows the statue outside the library on Walnut Street. Titled "Paper Airplanes: Journeys of the Imagination," this sculpture by Gary Lee Price is "about fantasy and enjoying our childhood and all of its wonders."
